Tuolumne River of California
The Tuolumne River of California is managed by three government
agencies,
the Mother Lode Field Office of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management,
the Yosemite National Park Office of the U.S. National Parks Service,
and the Stanislaus National forest Office of the U.S. Forest Service.
A section of the Tuolumne River from its source to the
Dan Pedro Reservoir was designated a national wild and scenic river on
September 28, 1984. 47 miles of the river were esignated "wild",
23 miles were designated "scenic" and 13 miles were designated
"recreational". The river is a popular whitewater rafting destination
between May and September.
