Redwoods National and State Parks
Three California state parks are co-managed
within the Redwood National and State Parks System.
The system includes more then 130,000 acres
of coastal, old growth, redwood forest.
The parks are located within Del Norte and
Humboldt Counties in Northern California. They
include Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park,
Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, and
Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.

Sequoia National is most famous for its Giant Sequoia
trees, including five of the ten largest trees in
the world in terms of wood volume.
Sequoia National Park
United States National Park located in the
Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains, east
of Visalia, just south of Kings Canyon National
Park.
Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park
State park established in 1927 with about 50%
old growth coast redwood trees and eight miles
of rugged coastline. The park elevation ranges
from sea level to about 1280 feet and park features
include steep ocean cliffs, the Damnation Trail,
the Footsteps Rock Trail, campgrounds opened from
May through September, and half mile long
Wilson Beach, which is also known as False Klamath Cove.
Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park is located
in Del Norte County about seven miles south of
Crescent City.
Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park
State park established in 1929 featuring
a forest that is predominantly old growth
coast redwood trees. The park has about twenty
miles of hiking trails and nature trails,
river access, a visitor's center, a nature store,
and campgrounds that are opened all year.
Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is located in
Del Norte County, on Highway 199, about nine miles
east of Cresdent City.

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park
State park and protected area established in the
early 1920's to protect the park's old growth
coast redwood forests. Park activities include
hiking, nature study, wildlife viewing
beach combing, picnics, and visiting the park's
visitor's center and nature store. Prairie Creek
Redwoods State Park is located in Humboldt County
about twenty-five miles south of
Crescent City and about fifty miles north of Eureka.
