The Smith River of California
Two sections of the Smith River were declared United States National
Wild and Scenic Rivers on January 19, 1981 and
November 16, 1990. 78 miles of the river were
designated "wild, 31 miles were designated "scenic"
and 216 miles were designated "recreational".
The Smith river is managed by the Six Rivers National
Forest Office of the U.S. Forest Service.
