Merced River of California
Two sections of the Merced River were declared
United States National
Wild and Scenic Rivers on November 2, 1987 and
October 23, 1992.
7.1 miles of the river were designated "wild",
16 were designated "scenic" and 35.5 miles
were designated "recreational".
The Merced River is managed by three entities:
The Mother Lode Field Office of the Bureau of
Land Management, the Yosemite National Park Office
of the National Park Service, and the Sierra National
Forest Office of the U.S. Forest service.
