Coachella Valley
Riverside County desert valley extending approximately
45 miles by 15 miles that lies between the San Bernardino
Mountains and the Salton Sea. The most visited cities
in the Coachella Valley, listed by population from
highest to lowest, include the towns of
Indio, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Palm Springs,
Coachella, La Quinta, Desert Hot Springs, Rancho
Mirage, and Indian Wells.
High Desert of California
Includes the Antelope Valley and Victor Valley areas,
the cities of Lancaster, Palmdale, and Twentynine Palms
Edwards Air Force Base, the Morongo Basin,
part of Joshua Tree National Park,
and other higher elevation desert areas.
Low Desert of California
Includes the Coachella Valley, parts of the Imperial Valley,
the Lower Colorado River Valley, the towns of Palm Springs,
Blythe, Borrego Springs, Brawley, Calexico,
Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio,
Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and Rancho Mirage, and the
part of of Joshua Tree National Park,
and other lower elevation desert areas.
