The Amargosa River of California

The Amargosa River of California flows through Nye County in Nevada and San Bernardino and Inyo Counties in California. It is about 185 miles long but most of it flows underground. Above ground segments include a short section in Beatty, Nevada and a 26 miles section in the Mojave Desert.

Wild and Scenic: Amargosa River
Several sections of the Amargosa River received United States National Wild and Scenic River designation on March 30 2009. 7.9 miles of the river were designated "wild", 12.1 miles were designated "scenic", and 6.3 miles were designated "recreational".
