- Beach is consists of smooth stones with some sand near water
- Exposed to northwest swells, but often calm in summer
- Named after the huge lava wall cliff face backing the beach
- Cliff makes beach shady in the afternoons
- Snorkeling and scuba diving at each end of the beach, not much hiking
- Self contained barbecue or camp stove allowed but not provided
