Running Events in Auburn

American River 50 Mile Endurance Run
Annual 50 mile ultramarathon that begins at the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area abd ends in the city of Auburn. Part of the course is on a bike path along the American River and part of it is on trails. The race was held for the first time in 1980 and at that time the race was between Auburn and Sacramento.

Western States Endurance Run
100.2 mile trail running race from Squaw Valley in the High Sierras to the city of Auburn in Gold Country. The course follows the historic Western States Trail and runners climb more then 18,000 feet and descend nearly 23,000 feet before they reach the finish line at Placer High School in Auburn. Held every year on the last full weekend in June.
