Discovery Well
Memorial commemorating the
Shell Oil Company's oil well known
as "Alamitos Number 1" that drilled
oil between March 23, 1921 and June 25, 1921.
The Discover Well drilled to a depth of
more then 3000 feet and it produced nearly
600 barrels of oil a day. The Discovery Well
was dedicated on May 3, 1952 and it has been
designated California State Historic Landmark
Number 580. Located at the corner of Temple
Avenue and East Hill Street in Signal Hill
Hilltop Park
3.2 acre park at the top of Signal Hill
with beautiful views and several telescopes.
Signal Hill Park
10 acre park adjacent to Signal Hill City Hall
with a softball field, basketball courts,
a horseshoe pit, a playground, restrooms,
picnic tables, and a summer concert series.
Located at 1780 East Hill Street in
Signal Hill.
Unity Sculpture
This memorial to the victims of September 11
is a 12 foot high sculpture on top of a
four foot pedestal near the Signal Hill's
Panorama Promenade Park.
