Greenbelts and Open Spaces in Santa Cruz

Arena Gulch Open Space
63 acre greenbelt area with wetlands, scrub brush, live oaks, coastal prairie terrain, and hiking trails. About a third of the property is wetlands. The main trail is less then a mile long, it connects Agnes Street with the Upper Santa Cruz Harbor, and both hiking and bicycling are allowed, There is also a footpath in the southern meadow area of the open space.

Arena Gulch Multi-Use Trail

Moore Creek Open Space
246 acre greenbelt area with open meadows, views of Monterey Bay, and about 2.5 miles of hiking trails. Public use is limited to hiking, nobicycles or dogs are allowed. There are two walk-in entrances but no on-site parking lots. One entrance is on the north side of Highway One,across from Shaffer Road, and the other entrance is at the end of Medar Street. The land was acquired by the city of Santa Cruz in 1998. Also known as the Moore Creek Reserve and the Bombay Property.

Pogonip Open Space
604 acre greenbelt and open space area with meadows, woodlands, creeks, Several hiking-only trails, and one a one mile multi-use trail on which where bicycling and horseback riding is permitted. The multi-use trail connects Henry Cowell Redwoods STate Park, the Pogonip Open Space, and the campus of the University of California at Santa cruz. The Pogonip Open Space is located at 333 Golf Club Drive in Santa Cruz.
