Mojave Travel Guide
Information for visitors to the town of Mojave in
the
Kern County section of the
Antelope Valley.
Mojave was established in 1876 as a construction
camp for the Southern Pacific Railroad. In the
early 1900's the town became a headquarters for
construction of the the the Los Angeles Aquaduct.
The town's Mojave Air and Space Port began
in 1935 as a small airfield servicing the local gold
and silver mining industry.
In the 1980's and 1990's became one of the
largest wind generated electrcity sources
iin the world.
