Manzanar National Historic Site
United States national historic site dedicated to the history of the Manzanar War Relocation Center where Japanese Americans were interned during World War II. Located on U.S. Highway 395, about four miles south of Indpendence and ten miles north of Lone Pine.

Mount Whitney Fish Hatchery
Historic fish hatchery built in 1917 that played an important role in the preservation of California's state fish, the Golden Trout.
