Millerton Lake State Recreation Area
State recreation area focused around a lake created when the Friant Dam
was built across the San Joaquin River in 1944. The lake has
40 miles of shoreline for recreational use.
Facilities incllude boat ramps, boat rentals, hiking trails,
horseback riding trails.
Attractions in the park include the original Millerton
County Courthouse, built in 1867.
Overnight facilities include tent camp sites,
RV sites with hook-ups, an RV dump station,
and boat camping facilities.
Popular activities include boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing
windsurfing. During the winter bald eagle viewing boat tours are offered.
Millerton Lake is located about 20 miles northeast of Fresno and
can be reached by driving on Highway 41 and Highway 145.

Kings River Green Belt Park, Los Gatos Creek Park,
Thornburn Access Park, Winton Park, Avocado Lake,
the Shaver Lake Launch Ramp,
recreational areas with fishing access,
and two parks only open Easter to September:
Laton-Kingston Park and Skaggs Bridge Park.
Note that the Pine Flat Recreation Area has been permanently closed.
