9/12-9/13 56th Annual Catalina Channel Crossing – US Outrigger Championships
Come out and see the women finish the longest Polynesian canoe race in the continental U.S., 26 miles from Newport Beach to Avalon, on Saturday, at Casino Point. Then enjoy the after race Hawaiian festivities at the center of town; including music and beer garden. On Sunday watch the men start their race back to Newport Beach from Lovers Cove. This 20th annual fundraiser features over 80 wineries, delectable hors d’oeuvres and smooth jazz. Annual star-studded celebration of Catalina’s rich film history featuring approximately 100 films screened at multiple venues around the island plus music stage, VIP parties, nightly events and entertainment. The festival, which benefits the Catalina Island Conservancy, is one of Hollywood's prestigious events on the film circuit that is competitive with awards in up to 11 categories, including the festival's esteemed industry tribute awards.
