EVENT: Catalina Island Conservancy Marathon
DATE: March 15, 2014 (Saturday)
DESCRIPTION:
The Catalina Island Conservancy Marathon was ranked No. 6
on weather.com’s “World’s 15 Toughest Marathons” list last year.
The route winds its way from Two Harbors over to Avalon by way of
dirt roads, along ridges and down canyons. It offers the chance
to run wild in Catalina’s wildlands. Proceeds from the event
fund the Catalina Island Conservancy work and programs.
EVENT: BZ Jones Cross Catalina Hike
PRESENTED BY: Catalina Marineros
DESCRIPTION:
Catalina’s wild side is at its best in the spring with tender
green grass shoots covering the hills, flowers of all colors
starting to bloom and the daytime temperature quite mild.
This organized event accesses different trails in different
configurations each year. Last year, it was an 11-mile hike
from Ben Weston beach to White’s Landing with a prepared lunch
at Black Jack. Proceeds from the event fund the
Catalina Island Conservancy work and programs.
