History of Middle Ranch
Middle ranch was originally the headquarters and shearing station
of a sheeping operation run by te Mauer Cattle Company.
Middle Ranch Today
Today Middle Ranch is an equestrian facility
operated by the Catalina island Saddle Club where full-time and part-time Catalina
residents can board their horses. It is also the home of the James Ackerman Native
Plant Nursery, a facility of the Catalina island Conservancy that
propagates and sells many plants native to Catalina island.
The Catalina island Conservancy also houses its maintenance facility
and a field research laboratory at Middle Ranch.
