History of the Catalina Island Museum
The Catalina Island Museum was established in 1953 by the Wrigley family and for many years it was located inside a lower level space of the Catalina Casino. The museum moved from its old space in the casino to the newly-built, 18,000 square foot, Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner Building at 217 Metropole Avenue in July of 2016. The new museum was built at a cost of about $10 million on the former site of the Avalon City Hall and jail.
