in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, at an
elevation of about 5,870 feet above sea level.
The airport
has one asphalt runway about 4,440 feet long, and an area
where light aircraft can be parked and tied down.
It is an unattended airport with no buildings,
facilities, services, or lighting. The airport is suitable
for daylight landings only and it is closed when snow is on the runway.
The Alpine County Airport is located about six miles north
of central Markleeville.
