Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair
Alpine shares its county fair with two other counties,
Inyo County and Mono County. The Eastern Sierra Tri County
Fairgrounds are located at the intersection of
Sierra Street and Fair Drive in the Inyo County city of Bishop.
Fairs and Festivals in Alpine County
Alpine 150 Year Celebration
One-time event held in 2014 to observe and celebrate
the 150 year anniversary of Alpine County (1864-2014).
Alpine Aspen Festival
Annual event celebrating the beauty and vital role of
the aspen tree groves of Alpine County. Festival activities
include educational hikes, artist workshops, conservation projects,
outdoor recreation such as fishing, horseback riding, and
kayaking, and fun events such as live music, cooking, and dining.
First ever event was held September 25-28, 2014.
Bear Valley Music Festival
This annual music festival originally featured only classical
music but in later years other genres were added such as
opera, Broadway show tunes, rock, country, and other contemporary music.
Past contemporary artists have included Dave Mason, Jose Feliciano, R
Roseanne Cash, Glen Campbell, the Mama’s and the Papa’s, John Corbett,
and the Big Bad Voo Doo Daddies.
The 45th event was held July 25 through August 10, 2014.

Ebbetts Pass Scenic Celebration
Annual music festival and celebration
presented by the Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association.
The event is centered around an all day live muisic
festival held at Hermit Valley. Also known as "HermitFest".
Usually held the first or second Saturday in September.
The 8th was held September 6, 2014.
Sports Events in Alpine County
Bear Valley Soap Box Derby
Annual Labor Day weekend event that includes a soap box vehicle race
and other activities that typically include picnics, outdoor movies, a petting zoo,
pony rides, zipline rides, wall climbing, a silent auction,
raffle, and other family activities.
Bear Valley Triathlon
Annual swimming, cycling, and running event usually held
the Sunday before Labor Day.
Includes a 600 yard swim, followed by a 10.5 mile bike ride,
followed by a 3.4 mile run.
The 22nd annual event was held Sunday August 31, 2014.
Death Ride Cycling Event
Challenging bicycle ride that begins and ends at Turtle Rock Park.
The route includes both sides of Monitor Pass,
both sides of Ebbetts Pass, and the east side of Carson Pass.
Ebbetts Pass Century Bike Ride
Annual cycling event with distances that include the
95 mile Ebbetts Pass Century Ride, the
64 mile Bear Valley Metric Century Ride, the
48 mile Bear Valley Half Century Ride, and the
28 ile Stanislaus Quarter Century Ride.
The 7th annual event was held August 23, 2014.
Endeavor Team Challenge
Team backpacking event on a rugged 40 mile course
featuring physical tests and mental challenges.
Participants must be able to run 6 miless in
under an hour, swim 50 meters fully clothed,
carry a person of equal bodyweight on your back 50 meters,
and hike 12 miles carrying a 35 pound backpacvk in under 4 hours.
The course includes Bear Valley and other Stanislaus National
Forest locations.
Other Alpine County Events
Markleeville Creek Day
Community clean-up and environmental projects event headquartered at
Alpine County Library Park in Markleeville.
Typical activities include tree planting, stream bank stabilization,
river clean-up, and weed removal. The 15th event was held August 23, 2014.
Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair
Alpine County shares its annual fair with Mono County
and Inyo County and the event is held at the
Tri County Fairgrounds, about 180 miles south of
Alpine County in the Inyo County town of Bishop.
